Master Cylinder Repair Kit - CB Type - Non-Servo is an overhaul kit for the single-line, non-servo CB-type brake master cylinder fitted to short-wheelbase Series models.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC1116 master cylinder repair kit for?
STC1116 is an overhaul kit for the CB type non-servo brake master cylinder on the Land Rover Series III. It replaces the internal seals so the existing cylinder can generate hydraulic pressure again, rather than fitting a complete new master cylinder.
How do I know I have the CB type non-servo cylinder?
The CB type is the single line, non-servo master cylinder used on short wheelbase Series models. Servo assisted vehicles use a different cylinder and a different kit, so identify the cylinder body on the vehicle before ordering STC1116.
Which part numbers cross reference to STC1116?
STC1116 also appears as 502333 and BCK25. If a Series III catalogue or workshop has quoted either code for a CB type non-servo master cylinder overhaul, it's the same kit.
Why does a Series III master cylinder need overhauling?
The seals in a Series III master cylinder harden and swell with age and with the fluid they sit in. Once a seal passes fluid internally the pedal sinks slowly under steady foot pressure, with no external leak showing. That's the usual sign.
Should the cylinder bore be checked before rebuilding?
Yes. A repair kit only replaces the seals, so if the bore is pitted, scored or corroded the new seals won't hold pressure either. Inspect the bore before committing to a rebuild with STC1116.
