Deze oliekeerring past rond de pignonflens waar de aandrijfaskoppeling aansluit, en dicht de pignon af waar deze de differentieelbehuizing verlaat, waardoor wordt voorkomen dat differentiaalolie langs de flenslekkage lekt. Vervanging is meestal nodig wanneer de afdichtingslippen uitharden of slijten, wat resulteert in een olielekkage bij de pignonflens. De keerring is toegankelijk na het verwijderen van de aandrijfas, het losmaken en verwijderen van de aandrijfflens, en het uitpersen van de versleten keerring uit zijn behuizingboring.
