Deze oliekeerring past rond de rondselflens waar de koppelingsas aansluit, en dicht de rondselas af waar deze uit de differentieelbehuizing komt en voorkomt dat differentieelolie langs het flensvlak lekt. Vervanging is meestal nodig wanneer de afdichtingslippen uitharden of slijten, wat resulteert in een olielekkage bij de rondselflens. De afdichting is toegankelijk na het verwijderen van de aandrijfas, het losmaken en extraheren van de aandrijfflens, en het persen van de versleten afdichting uit de behuizing.

What causes the differential pinion seal to fail and what happens if it's ignored?
Pinion oil seals typically fail as the rubber lip hardens and loses contact with the rotating flange. The main symptom is oil weeping around the propshaft coupling. Left unrepaired, differential oil level drops and eventually causes bearing and gear damage inside the differential.
Is FRC4586 suitable for all Defender models?
