Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC5903 front brake hose, and where does it sit in the hydraulic circuit?
The RTC5903 is the flexible front brake hose for Land Rover Series 2, 2A, and 3, with UNF thread connections. It links the rigid brake pipe on the chassis to the front axle wheel brake, flexing to accommodate suspension and steering movement while carrying hydraulic pressure to apply the front brakes.
Which Series Land Rovers does this front brake hose fit?
The RTC5903 fits Land Rover Series 2, Series 2A, and Series 3 with UNF brake connections, built up to June 1980. It does not fit 1 Ton models or vehicles built after June 1980, which moved to metric (DIN) fittings. Confirm your brake pipe fittings are UNF before ordering.
Should a brake hose be replaced when the system is opened, or can it be reused?
Brake hoses should always be replaced when the hydraulic system is opened on an older Series Land Rover. The inner lining degrades over time and can restrict fluid flow or swell internally without visible external damage. A failed front brake hose directly affects braking on that axle.
