What is the RTC6079R fuel filter and what does it do?

The RTC6079R is a diesel fuel filter that separates dirt, debris and water from the fuel before it reaches the injection pump. Fitted in the supply line between the lift pump and injection pump, it protects the pump and injectors from contamination on 2.25L and 2.5L non-TDi diesel engines.

Which engines does this fuel filter fit?

The RTC6079R fits the 2.25L diesel in Series II, IIA and III, and the 2.5L diesel in Defender, both naturally aspirated and turbocharged. It does not fit the 200TDi or 300TDi engines, which use a different filter. Check your engine type before ordering.

What are the signs the fuel filter needs replacing?

A clogged fuel filter typically causes power loss, hesitation under load, hard starting or a stumble at higher revs as fuel flow is restricted. Diesel filters also trap water, which must be drained. Renew it as routine servicing to protect the injection pump from abrasive contamination.
