What is the LT76 gearbox joint washer for?

The joint washer forms an oil-tight seal between mating faces inside the LT76 manual gearbox, fitted on assembly to stop gearbox oil weeping from the joint. It's used on Land Rover Series 2 and 3 and Defender models fitted with the LT76 gearbox. Supplied as a single OEM washer.

Will this washer fit my gearbox?

This joint washer fits only the LT76 gearbox, so confirm your gearbox type before ordering. Land Rover Series 2 and 3 and some Defender models used the LT76, but other gearboxes use different gaskets. The gearbox type is the key check, not just the vehicle model.

Can the joint washer be reused?

Joint washers are typically single-use and should be replaced whenever the gearbox joint is opened. Reusing an old washer usually leads to an oil leak once the sealing faces are disturbed. Fit a new washer on reassembly of the LT76 gearbox. Supplied individually.
