Suspension Spring U-Bolt for the front leaf-spring suspension, clamping the axle to the spring pack.

The U-bolt wraps around the front axle tube and passes through the spring seat plate, drawing the leaf spring tightly down onto the axle so the two cannot shift relative to each other under load. A stretched or corroded U-bolt lets the axle walk on the spring and disturbs the steering geometry, so they are renewed as a set with fresh nuts and tightened evenly to the correct torque.
