Oil Seal for the front output shaft of the LT95 gearbox, sealing the transfer case around the rotating output shaft.

The LT95 is a combined main gearbox and transfer box; this seal runs on the front output shaft where it leaves the transfer case to drive the front propshaft, retaining the transfer oil and keeping dirt and water out. A hardened or worn seal lets oil weep onto the output flange and propshaft, and is renewed whenever the front output flange is removed or an oil leak develops at that point.

Frequently asked questions

What does the LT95 front output shaft oil seal do?
The LT95 front output shaft oil seal runs on the front output shaft where it leaves the transfer section of the LT95 gearbox to drive the front propshaft. It retains the transfer oil and keeps dirt and water out. The LT95 is a combined main gearbox and transfer box.
Which vehicles use this LT95 oil seal?
This seal fits Land Rover models built with the LT95 gearbox, typically the Series 3 Stage 1 V8, early V8 Defender, and Range Rover Classic. Because it's specific to the LT95, confirm your vehicle actually has that gearbox before ordering, as later models used different gearboxes.
When should this output shaft seal be replaced?
Replace the seal when oil weeps onto the front output flange or propshaft, which happens once the seal hardens or wears. It's also renewed as a matter of course whenever the front output flange is removed, since disturbing the flange disturbs the seal's running surface.
