Frequently asked questions

What is the Fuel Level Sender used for?
The Fuel Level Sender measures the petrol in the tank and drives the dashboard fuel gauge. A float arm follows the fuel level and varies an electrical resistance sent to the gauge. It mounts in the top of the rear tank and fits Land Rover Series 3 109-inch LWB petrol models. It comes with one sealing ring.
What are the signs a fuel level sender has failed?
Fuel level senders typically fail when the resistance track or float wears, giving an inaccurate, stuck or dead fuel gauge reading. A float that's lost its seal can also sink. If your gauge reads wrongly with a known fuel level, the sender is the usual cause on these Series 3 petrol tanks.
Will this sender fit my fuel tank?
This is the later clip-in sender for tanks with a bayonet, twist-lock closure, so check your tank's fixing type before ordering. It suits the rear-mounted petrol tank on the Series 3 109-inch long-wheelbase. Confirm your tank has the twist-lock aperture rather than a bolted flange to be sure.
