Inlet Valve for the 2.25L and 2.5L four-cylinder diesel engines, including the 2.5L Turbo Diesel, operating in the cylinder head valve train.

It opens to admit the intake air charge into the combustion chamber and seats against the cylinder head inlet port to seal it during compression and combustion. The stem is machined with three collet grooves (triple groove) to retain the split collets that hold the valve spring cap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ETC5739 inlet valve and where does it fit?
The ETC5739 is the inlet valve for the 2.25L and 2.5L four-cylinder diesel engines, including the 2.5L Turbo Diesel. It works in the cylinder head valve train, opening to admit the intake air charge and seating against the inlet port to seal during compression. It suits Defender and Series 2 and 3 diesel engines.
What does triple groove mean on this inlet valve?
Triple groove means the ETC5739 valve stem is machined with three collet grooves that retain the split collets holding the spring cap. This differs from single-groove valves, so check your collet type before ordering. It fits the 2.25L and 2.5L diesel engines, including the 2.5L Turbo Diesel.
How many inlet valves are needed for a full head rebuild?
A full head rebuild on the four-cylinder diesel engines typically needs four inlet valves, one per cylinder, alongside the exhaust valves. The ETC5739 is sold individually, so order the quantity your job requires. Many rebuilders replace inlet and exhaust valves as a set during a decoke.
