Clutch Slave Cylinder is the hydraulic actuator in the clutch release circuit, converting pressurised fluid from the clutch master cylinder into mechanical force to operate the clutch release mechanism.

When the clutch pedal is depressed, fluid pressure extends the slave cylinder piston, which acts on the release fork to disengage the driven plate from the flywheel and allow smooth gear changes.

Designed for Puma TDCi diesel engine applications.

Frequently asked questions

What does the LR068979 clutch slave cylinder do?
The LR068979 clutch slave cylinder is the hydraulic actuator in the clutch release circuit. Fluid from the master cylinder extends its piston, which pushes the release fork to disengage the clutch for gear changes. It fits the Defender 2007-2016 Puma TDCi from VIN 7A000001.
Which Land Rover does this clutch slave cylinder fit?
This clutch slave cylinder fits the Land Rover Defender 2007-2016 with the Puma TDCi diesel engine, from VIN 7A000001. Check your VIN against that break to confirm it's the correct clutch release mechanism for your vehicle.
What are the signs a clutch slave cylinder needs replacing?
A failing clutch slave cylinder typically shows as a soft or sinking clutch pedal, trouble selecting gears, or fluid loss around the unit, usually pointing to worn internal seals. On the Defender clutch release circuit it's often replaced alongside the master cylinder.
Does LR068979 replace earlier clutch slave cylinder part numbers?
Yes, LR068979 is the current part and supersedes earlier numbers including LR052128, LR040773, LR031455 and LR019597. If your Defender originally used one of these, LR068979 is the correct replacement for the clutch release mechanism.
