Wing Nut for the air cleaner assembly.

This threaded wing nut secures the air cleaner cover to its centre stud, clamping the cover down to retain the air filter element and seal the housing. The wings allow the cover to be removed and refitted by hand for routine filter service.

Frequently asked questions

What is the air cleaner wing nut used for?
The air cleaner wing nut secures the air cleaner cover to its centre stud, clamping the cover down to hold the filter element in place and seal the housing. The wings let you undo and refit it by hand during routine air filter changes, with no tools needed.
How many wing nuts are needed for the air cleaner?
Typically one wing nut is needed per air cleaner housing, as the cover is held by a single central stud. If you're servicing the air filter and the original wing nut is cross-threaded or lost, one replacement covers the job on most of these Land Rover air cleaner setups.
Which Land Rover models use this air cleaner wing nut?
This wing nut fits the air cleaner assembly on the Defender, Discovery 1, and Range Rover Classic. It's used across several engine versions of that air cleaner housing, so it suits diesel, TDi, and petrol setups that share the same centre-stud cover arrangement.
