Layshaft Split Ring Halves are a matched pair of semi-circular retaining ring halves used in the Land Rover Series I and II gearbox assembly.
The two halves fit together to form a complete split ring that locates the layshaft (countershaft) bearing within the gearbox casing and resists axial movement of the shaft under load. Both halves must be renewed together to ensure correct fit and retention.
