Frequently asked questions

What does the FRC3417 clutch push rod do?
The FRC3417 clutch push rod transmits the slave cylinder piston stroke to the clutch release lever, which drives the release bearing against the clutch diaphragm to disengage the clutch. It's the 9.2cm rod for 4-cylinder models with the LT77 gearbox.
Which Land Rovers take the FRC3417 push rod?
The FRC3417 fits the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic, all with the 4-cylinder engine and LT77 manual gearbox. The length is specific to this setup, so confirm you have the LT77 slave cylinder arrangement before ordering.
How many clutch push rods are needed?
Typically one clutch push rod is needed per vehicle. It's usually replaced during a clutch or slave cylinder job if the rod is worn or corroded at the contact ends, since a worn rod can reduce clutch release travel and pedal feel.
Why does the 9.2cm push rod length matter?
The 9.2cm length matters because different Land Rover clutch setups use different push rod lengths. Fitting the wrong length affects clutch release travel and pedal feel. Measure your old rod or confirm the LT77 4-cylinder application before ordering.
