Brand Dayco
Timing Belt for the 2.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated and turbo diesel engines (pre-TDi), part of the valve and injection-pump drive.

The toothed belt synchronises the crankshaft with the camshaft and the fuel injection pump, maintaining correct valve and injection timing. Accurate tensioning on fitting is essential, and renewal at the specified interval is important, as belt failure on this engine can allow valve-to-piston contact.

Supplied as a single timing belt.

Frequently asked questions

What does this timing belt do?
The timing belt synchronises the crankshaft with the camshaft and injection pump on the 2.5L 4-cylinder NA and turbo diesel (pre-TDi). The toothed belt keeps valve and injection timing correct so the engine runs in time.
Does this belt fit TDi engines?
No. This belt is for the 2.5L 4-cylinder NA diesel and 2.5L turbo diesel only, not the later 200TDi or 300TDi. Confirm you have the pre-TDi 2.5 diesel before ordering, as the TDi uses a different belt.
Should I replace the tensioner with the timing belt?
Yes. Renew the timing belt tensioner at the same time as the belt. They share the same service life, and reusing a worn tensioner can cause the new belt to fail early.
Why is timely timing belt replacement important on this engine?
This engine can suffer valve-to-piston contact if the belt fails, so a snapped belt can cause serious damage. Renew the belt at the specified interval and inspect it for cracking, glazing or missing teeth. Check your service schedule for timing.
