ABS Wheel Speed Sensor - Front for the 4-wheel ABS braking system.

Mounted at the front axle, the sensor reads a toothed reluctor ring and generates a variable electrical signal proportional to wheel rotational speed. The ABS control unit uses this signal to detect impending wheel lock during heavy braking and modulate brake pressure at the relevant front calliper, preserving steering control.

Applies to vehicles with 4-wheel ABS and automatic transmission.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Front ABS Sensor Kit and what does it do?
The Front ABS Sensor is a wheel speed sensor for the 4-wheel ABS system on the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006). Mounted at the front axle, it reads a toothed reluctor ring and sends a speed signal to the ABS unit so it can detect wheel lock and modulate front brake pressure.
Which Defenders does this front ABS sensor fit?
This sensor fits the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) with 4-wheel ABS and automatic transmission, within the VIN range (V)XA159807 to (V)5A683617. Confirm your vehicle has 4-wheel ABS and falls inside that VIN range before ordering, as the automatic-transmission fitment is specific.
What are the signs a front ABS sensor has failed?
A failed front ABS wheel speed sensor typically triggers the ABS warning light and can disable ABS until it's repaired. Common causes are a damaged sensor tip, a corroded connector, or a contaminated reluctor ring. The fault is often logged against a specific front wheel, which helps confirm which sensor to replace.
