Clutch Release Fork - Heavy-Duty is the pivoting lever in the clutch release mechanism that acts on the release bearing.

Operated by the clutch slave cylinder pushrod, the fork pivots on its fulcrum inside the bellhousing to drive the release bearing against the diaphragm spring of the clutch cover, disengaging the clutch when the pedal is pressed. For LT77 and R380 manual gearboxes.

This is a heavy-duty version with reinforced construction to resist flexing and wear under higher clutch loads.

Frequently asked questions

What does the FTC2957HD clutch release fork do?
The FTC2957HD is the pivoting lever in the clutch release mechanism, operated by the slave cylinder pushrod. It pivots on its fulcrum inside the bellhousing to press the release bearing against the clutch cover diaphragm spring, disengaging the clutch when the pedal is pressed.
Which gearboxes and vehicles use the FTC2957HD fork?
It fits the Defender (1987-2006), Discovery 1 (from VIN FA393361), and Range Rover Classic (from VIN JA610294), all with LT77 or R380 manual gearboxes.
What's different about the HD version of the clutch release fork?
The HD version uses a reinforced construction intended to better resist flexing and wear under higher clutch loads compared with the standard fork. It's a like-for-like fit in the same clutch housing.
What are the signs the clutch release fork needs replacing?
A worn or flexing fork typically causes uneven or incomplete clutch release, which can show up as difficulty selecting gears or a spongy-feeling clutch pedal. Flex in the fork under load is the main failure mode.
