Frequently asked questions

What does the V8 rocker arm do?
The rocker arm pivots on the rocker shaft and transfers the pushrod's lifting motion to the valve stem, opening the valve as the cam lobe acts through the pushrod. This is the right-hand steel version for the Rover V8 petrol engine valvetrain.
How many rocker arms does a Rover V8 need?
A Rover V8 typically uses 16 rocker arms in total, usually eight per cylinder bank, split between right and left-hand types. This is a single right-hand arm, so check how many your repair needs rather than assuming one covers the job.
What is the difference between the steel and aluminium V8 rocker arms?
This is the steel rocker arm. The Rover V8 was built with both steel and aluminium rocker arms over its production run, so confirm which type your engine uses before ordering. It is best not to mix types on the same rocker shaft.
Which Land Rovers does this rocker arm fit?
This rocker arm fits the Rover V8 petrol engine in the Defender (1987-2006), Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic (1986-1994) and Range Rover P38 (1994-2001). It suits 3.5L, 4.0L and 4.6L V8 versions.
