Brake Master Cylinder - Dual-Line is the hydraulic master cylinder of the dual-line servo braking system, converting brake-pedal force into hydraulic pressure.

Mounted to the brake servo, it generates pressure across two independent hydraulic circuits, so that a failure in one line leaves the other operational. It carries two bleed nipples for servicing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the NRC6096 brake master cylinder and what does it do?
The NRC6096 is a dual-line brake master cylinder for Land Rover Series II and III from June 1980, fitted to vehicles with the dual-line servo braking system. It converts brake pedal force into hydraulic pressure across two independent circuits, so a failure in one line doesn't cause total brake loss.
Which Series vehicles does this master cylinder fit?
It fits Series II and III with the dual-line servo braking system from June 1980 onwards. Earlier Series vehicles used a single-line system and need a different master cylinder. Confirm your brake system type before ordering.
What are the symptoms of a failing brake master cylinder?
A failing master cylinder typically causes a spongy or sinking brake pedal, loss of braking pressure over time, or pedal travel that increases gradually under sustained pressure. Fluid loss inside the unit can appear as a wet servo or footwell seepage. It's a safety-critical component and must be replaced promptly.
