Brake Caliper Piston for the hydraulic disc brake caliper, 46mm diameter and 30.68mm height.

The piston sits within the caliper bore and transfers hydraulic pressure from the brake fluid to the brake pad, pressing the pad against the disc to generate braking force. It is sealed in the bore by the caliper piston seal and protected by the dust boot.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC201 brake caliper piston?
The STC201 is a 46mm front brake caliper piston for the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006). It sits in the caliper bore and transfers brake fluid pressure onto the pad, pressing it against the disc to produce braking force. It's made by AP Driveline and sold individually.
How many STC201 pistons does a caliper need?
The STC201 is sold each. Defender front calipers typically use more than one piston, so a full caliper rebuild usually needs a matched set plus new seals. Check how many pistons your caliper has and order the correct quantity for an even rebuild.
Why does a brake caliper piston need replacing?
Caliper pistons typically need replacing when corrosion or pitting damages the piston surface, tearing the seal and causing fluid leaks or a sticking brake. A seized piston drags the pad and wears it unevenly. Fitting a new 46mm piston during a rebuild restores even braking on the Defender.
Which vehicle does the STC201 fit?
The STC201 fits the front brake caliper of the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) and measures 46mm in diameter. Because caliper piston sizes vary, measure your existing piston or bore and confirm the 46mm size before ordering.
